khookoon, that's my dream location!! :-) I love the casual, breezy ambience - the FH and I planned our original wedding around Changi Cottage's laid-back look and feel. Sadly, we had to give up the idea for various reasons. :-(

Anyway, I digress.

As for ideas: We saw some photos of a wedding held at Fairypoint 7 where the couple included huge multi-wicked garden candles in their set-up. Are you familiar with those? It looked absolutely lovely! Very very romantic. :-)

Also, you could have bottles of bubbles provided for the kids - lots of space for them to run around and play. And paper fans for wedding favours - practical & pretty! And definitely a jazz band to add to the mood. :-)

Argh. I'm so envious! :P

Hi Khookoon

just help my sister to organise her wedding last year .
The services are really terrible.PM me , i will tell you more
.i would suggest u book the place and get a planner to do up the place yourself or alternatively chose another outdoor site like sentosa which is much cheaper .
Yes Much cheaper ..Aloha charges are exorbitant .
you might be charge till (90+++ per head )

Hi hi...

I held my ROM at Aloha Changi Fairy Point Chalet 7 last year March...
It turns out GREAT!!!
It was definitely a very memorable one, cos I was the one who organised every single thing from scratch!!! Luckily for me, I had a wonderful bunch of family members; cousins and uncles who helped me with all the plannings... the set up of the field, flowers, decors, reception tables...etc etc...

So for all of you brides who are planning to hold your ROM there, I would definitely say GREAT IDEA!!!
Plan your own dream wedding and hold it right there, on the huge field with yummy food caterings... I even had a bbq stall set up there(of cos there's catering staffs who helps to bbq...)... both of you exchanging rings... facing the beautiful sea! You can even take your shots during sunset!!! The photos will turn out sooooo beautiful, trust me!

Happy Planning!

Hi Chriszwendy,

Thanks for your reply. I managed to book Aloha Changi Fairy Point 7 and did my solemnization cum wedding dinner there on 10 June. It was a huge success. I received countless compliments about the tentage, deco and food. After that, a lot of friends were inspired to hold their wedding like mine. Haha...

My hubby and I arranged for everything so the wedding turned out exactly the way we wanted it to be.

Fairy Point Chalet 7 is definitely a nice and romantic place for weddings and functions.

One more qn : how do you cool down the place esp if yr in WG & groom in suit to make it practical place to hold wedding?

My email addy is angelkwah@yahoo.com and angeline_kwah@subct.gov.sg. (pls send to both addy) Thanks.

A warm hello in the cool midnight.. (^.^)

My FH and I were very tempted to have an Outdoor wedding Customary Dinner, and are very enchanted by Changi Fairy 7..

But was wondering how do we get started? Like, where do we got the tentage, caterers, florist? And how much it cost? And what's the possibility to breakeven with the angpows? (Paisay, need to plan prudentally. =) )

Would really appreciate very much if anyone would kindly advise. =)

Also, possible to share with me the photos too? Hehe... =P

Thanks so much! (^.^)

Hi Ladies,

Went down to BOWS 2008 the other day and chatted with Gabriel from Outdoor Wedding Specialist (www.ows.com.sg)

His email: gabriel_tan@ows.com.sg
Mobile: 9673 3772

Quite a nice, friendly guy to chat and discuss on the tentage. He's willing to share his opinion and impart the knowledge in proceeding with an outdoor wedding.

Caterers - there are quite a few caterers where you can find reviews in SGBrides forum.

Florists - perhaps can ask Gabriel or the caterers to recommend.

From my initial calculation, the total expenses might be comparable as to holding it in a hotel. approx. $25k to $30k (tentage, good food, nice florist deco setup, sound system, additional deco that you might want to add on to the venue, etc) I'm also intending to have an outdoor wedding.

As for Aloha Changi FP 7, do consider the booking fee. From what I know is, public can only book the chalet 2 months in advance. If over the weekend, it cost $420 (peak), $490 (super peak. eg: sch hoildays). I calculated that I might need to spend a good $820 (2days) or $1260(3days) just on the booking. Even setting up the tentage at the lawn requires a flat $150 rental fee.

As for the ang pao, most of my friends told me that people tends to give lesser during an outdoor wedding, held at chalet, and buffet style. But it all depends on the relationship between you and the guest. You certainly can't foresee whether you will be able to cover the loss.

So a better way to settle would be reverse engineering. Set an amount of how much you are willing to "lose", from there you can work out the budget for each items (tentage, caterer, etc). At least you won't be that utterly disappointed when you count the ang pao money. =D

Just to share with my findings and thoughts.

One question which I'm still pondering over: Anyone has any idea of how to solve the parking issue?

Personally thought there aren't much parking spaces around Aloha Changi FP 7.

Do let me know if you have gotten a solution for that. Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

I Intend to hv my ROM cum reception on 1 May'09. My partner and I don't want banquets. He want it small scale but my group of close relatives and friends are big, almost 80pax.
From the posts here, am I right to conclude that I can bring in my own caterer to Aloha, even though they hv their own wedding catering? FP 7 seems like the ultimate chalet for a wedding. Any other suitable unit too? Am not in govt sector so can only book late :-(
Vee and Chriszwendy, you think you can share with me your photos, caterer, logistic contacts and costs? Would really appreciate it. My email: lynns_idea@yahoo.com.sg

Hi all,

I went there 1 mth ago just to look at every chalet unit there. FP 7 is defintiely a dream place for every gal to hold wedding there. As I only plan to have outdoor ROM for ~35pax, so FP 7 is way too big for me... I personally found another unit Changi Chalet G very nice. It is nearer to sea side, and there will be some yacht park there...

Am facing the same as u all, we only can book the chalet 2 mths ago. But from their staff, if we engage their wedding planner then we can book 6mths ago. So if u have budget for it, u can consider to contact their business grp.

I plan my ROM to be on 5th-July evening and and will engage Neo Garden as my food caterer. Now start to search for helper to deco the whole place... headace!!!!

Would appreaciate if u can share with me ur photo, deco helper and cost of cos.... thanks a lot!! My email pinkcrystal02@yahoo.com.sg

Hi All,

I am planning to host my ROM and dinner at FPC 7 too. Was just wondering, how much more expensive to rent that place for wedding, as we cannot just book the chalet like normal I read.

Anyone to share the expenses? We are not planning for a banquet, just a simple bbq/buffet dinner after solemnization on the same eveing.

Thanks!

Hi all,

Perhaps you all wanna try to look at tis website: http://www.aloharesorts.com.sg , under the Aloha wedding.

However they do not indicate the price, only state chose either Fairy Point Chalet 7 or Changi Cottage. Maybe try to read it or contact the person in charge for more details.

I've been to the Changi Cottage tis feb to attend my Malay fren wedding. Nt to bad, quite nice place, but parking will be an issue if most of ur guests r driving.

Hi tootee,
I'm doing exactly what you are intending to do...bbq/buffet dinner after solemnization on the same eveing at Aloha changi Fairy pt 7 in Oct'08...

Yup..you will have to take up their wedding package in order to host a wedding there. And if you need a tentage...that will be additional cost...so it may actually cost more than doing it in a restaurant.

Hi everyone,

I just got the package from Aloha, they dun allow ROM on PH which is their SUPER PEAK.
However they do have many different F&B Packages ranging from S$18.90 - S$68. There will be rental fee for the chalet itself too, depending on which unit you are looking at.

The date we selected is actually a PH! 200909! Haiz. Therefore we are not allow to have our ROM there, officially. If we DIY with our own catering and book through civil servant, we will be penalized S$500 max. What do you all think?

Anyone holding their ROM at Aloha w/o declaring?
Email me pics too!

has anyone held their wedding at aloha in recent months? how was it, the set-up, decor, food? looks like a lovely place for a sunset solemnisation, but have quite a few concerns e.g. out of the way, limited parking, bad food..

I held my ROM at Aloha Loyang bungalow few months' back. Everything went very well. hb and i had absolutely no regrets in holding our rom there. We had minimal deco except for the garden area where i placed the table and chairs for the ceremony. All my guests complimented on the venue.

I also booked thru civil servant. That time i was also worried abt any penalty issue. But when i called to check, the lady assured me that if i were to hold rom and bring in own caterer is still ok. Just that need to pay extra if u having tentage. That's all. I guess as long as u'r not making alot of noise and not damage their property shd be fine. :-)

Hi all, i was browsing around online for a perfect outdoor venue for my wedding and found Changi Fairypoint Chalet 7. Read alot of reviews from brides who've had their weddings there as well as guests and i've formed an impression that this place is worth checking out. Planning to visit that place with my fiance soon. Meantime, i'm going to send an email to Aloha enquiring about their fees and all.

However, i'd really appreciate it anyone could share with me some of your wedding photos of that place and the costs of the tentage etc as well as any other details you think would prove useful for me.

I think it's best to hear it firsthand from those who've gone through it. Do email me at thekuriouskat@gmail.com

Thousand thanks in advance. (:

after checking with aloha, i was told that you can't just book the chalet alone. while you can bring in your own caterer for the wedding, you still need to book a minimum catering package with them e.g. bbq or tea. has anyone else heard differently?

any feedback on the caterer with aloha, broson i think?

Hi everyone,
I also had plans to hold my AD at Fairy Point 7.
However, I checked with Aloha management, and they said strictly no wedding-related events are allowed on their premises, and no tentages/marquees are allowed to.

I was wondering if you all had check on all these rules?
If yes, do you all intend to go ahead with your wedding plans?

Please share with me your views.

Thanks!
