Tips On Choosing Your Ideal Bouquet

There are so many types of flowers in so many shades and combinations - which is the one for me?

Well… …the best answer I can think of whenever brides ask me this question is simply - what do you feel like? Usually the most important feature of the bouquet is the colour combination, followed by a special preference for a few types of flowers, and then of course how the bouquet matches the gown and the occasion.

Some brides may feel like having a simple, sweet bouquet and may settle for pastels like pinks with some lilac and little whites, lots of green (roses/tulips/lilies/freesias/alstroemeria).

Others may prefer something more dramatic and contrasting like yellows with red/orange and deep blue/bright purple (sunflowers/roses/tulips/irises/eustomas). It is the case that strong colours show up better on photographs and therefore it is more common for brides to request a brighter bouquet for photography sessions.

Very often, I will ask a bride if there are any particular flowers that they like and from there I will incorporate that into the colour theme and design of the bouquet. She will be holding the bouquet closely and the flowers will kind of 'interact' with her by making her feel comfortable and beautiful. This is important because she will feel extremely uncomfortable if she chooses a bouquet totally out of her wavelength. For example, there are some brides I know who dislike sunflowers or the colour yellow. Now, if I fail to register this detail accurately, the result could be disastrous and her mood for her big day ruined. The size and shape of the bouquet is also important because there is a difference between what is handy and what is overwhelming.

It is also a good idea to have different bouquets, maybe in terms of colour or style for all the different occasions - ROM, photoshoot session and the actual wedding day itself. In this way, you can get variety and look back on interesting pictures too.

Well, I sure hope all you brides-to-be find something you like. If you have any enquiry, please feel free to drop me a mail - trixieblueflowers@yahoo.com.sg
