Rock formationsRock formations

Definitely one of the highlights. MAYA BEACH (first two pictures from left). The location where the movie. "The beach" was filmed.

We went past many of these rock formations (first two pictures from right). In fact, many islands were originally rock fomations. You are sure to find beautiful corals beneath these formations and some of them are great diving and snorkelling sites. You could experience cave diving beneath some of these formations or explore the centre of the rock.

Viking cavesViking caves

This is the famous Viking Cave where birdnests were retrieved by skilled workers. It was named viking cave as it was believed that the drawings found on the walls of the caves were left by their ancestors. The swallows built their nests with the seaweed that they picked from the sea and "glued" them together with their saliva.

Thongsai BayElson at Phi Phi Town

Thongsai Bay also known as Phi Phi town. The place is full of resorts, dive organisers, pubs, bars and restaraunts. There were even internet cafe. You could also buy souvenirs here. Needless to say, this place comes "alive" at night. After a quick round, we left in a hurry. The place was too busy for us.
