What is a Photo Presentation?

A photo presentation (also called photo montage, digital photo album, photo album vcd, etc) is simply a photo slide-show done in the form of a video, commonly to showcase pictures of the couple from baby days to wedding shots. Besides bringing friends and relatives through a brief tour into the lives of the couple, it also serves as a lifetime memento for the couple.

Types of Wedding-Photo Presentation

Photo presentation started as simple Power-Point slide-shows which can be created by home PC users to those with more professional look done commonly in Adobe Premiere. Their differences lie in the use of different transitional effects (how one photo switches into another) and also the use of background pictures or animated backdrops. Recently, a new form of photo presentation has emerged. Called the '3D Video Montage', this type of presentation is pioneered by EnVistar Productions. As implied by its name, the whole presentation is created entirely in 3D computer graphics. It may be hard to describe the look of it in words, nevertheless, you'll be able to tell the difference when you see one. The use of high-end technology and advanced software to create this new breed of photo presentation can so far only be found in EnVistar. But more importantly, the 3D Video Montage has received numerous compliments due to the impact it could deliver when screened during wedding dinners.

Choosing Your Photos

Most of us may encounter problem when it comes to picking just about 20-30 photos out of the hundreds that have been taken over the years. Here's some recommendations in choosing your photos:

  • Parents : parents' wedding photos
  • Growing up : babies, little ones, teenagers
  • Schooling : school-life, graduation, friends
  • Adults : working, army, tour
  • Cupid : courtship, ROM
  • Wedding

Rule of thumbs when deciding on a photo:

  • Avoid photos with group larger than 4. One reason is because the exposure time of the photo may be too short for the audience to spot you before the next photo comes in. Even if highlights are used, you may appear too small.
  • Avoid photos where the subjects appear very small. If your face is smaller than a finger nail, chances are it won't look good after scanning due to the lack of fine facial details.
  • Close-up (half body or 3/4 body shots) often give a better feel when used in presentation.
  • Special lamination on the photos may be undesirable as the texture gets scanned in at the same time.

Can I use Defective Photos?

You could be in a dilemma when you have a photo with high sentimental value but it couldn't be used because of its defects. Some companies could enhance the photo colouration for better appearance but this is as far as it could go. Interestingly, a thorough digital restoration could be found in EnVistar Productions which proves to be able to digitally remove many defects such as tearing, stains, decolouration, scribbling and more. Such restoration process requires high skill level to make the end result look like a fresh original. To add to the competitive edge of its 3D Video Montage, this service is given free!!!
