The lens would also affect the sharpness, as well as the colours and the contrast of the photos. Thus, it would be more advisable to purchase a camera with a good lens, rather than buying a camera with a hundred different functions.
Most of the compact camera available in the market has lens of the range of 38mm 105mm. The shorter the lens, the wider (broader) the capture. The longer the lens, the further you can zoom.
